The top coal-producing states in the United States are Wyoming, West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Texas. These states are responsible for producing the vast majority of the coal mined in the US. In 2019, Wyoming alone produced over 40% of the coal mined in the US, making it the top coal-producing state.
