In March 2011, Progress Energy began offering incentives to residential customers who install photovoltaic (PV) systems. Under the SunSense Solar PV Program, Progress Energy offers rebates of $2/watt for PV ranging in capacity from two kilowatts (kW) to 10 kW. Systems must be certified by the Florida Solar Energy Center to qualify. In addition, all systems must be installed by a licensed contractor and connected to the Progress Energy Florida grid.
