In the past few years, the Georgia legislature has traditionally allowed an annual state and local sales tax exemption on Energy Star products of $1,500 or less per product, purchased for non-commercial home or personal use. For 2015, the designated period was October 2nd through October 4th. Check the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority website for future dates.
This incentive is available for dishwashers, clothes washers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, compact fluorescent light bulbs, dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, doors and windows that meet federal Energy Star standards. The state and local sales tax exemption will not apply to ENERGY STAR or WaterSense products purchased for trade, business or resale.
Note: Certain EPA "Watersense" products may also qualify.
