Ames Electric Department - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs

August 15, 2024

Summary

The City of Ames Electric Services offers a variety of services and rebates for residential customers interested in purchasing energy efficient appliances or making energy efficiency improvements to eligible homes. They also offer the Net Zero Ready Home Rebate program for new homes that meet certain Energy Star standards described on the program web site.

To assess the energy needs of customers, the City of Ames Electric Services offers free energy audits to any interested residential customers. Audits are performed by certified energy experts who assess the energy efficiency level of the home and will supply the customer with certain free energy saving measures such as equipment insulation.

Rebates are available on the purchase of Energy Star appliances. Ames also offers rebates for the purchase of energy efficient central air conditioners and heat pumps. All equipment must meet certain energy efficiency requirements listed on the program web site. By accepting any of the air conditioner rebates customers agree to allow City of Ames Electric Services to install a load control switch on central air conditioners.
