Indianola Municipal Utilities offers an incentive for its residential customers to build new, energy efficient homes. To qualify for the 10-year, 10% electric discount, the home must be built according to the Good Cents specifications. These specifications include such items as insulation, low-E glass windows and doors, high efficiency furnace and central air and many other items. IMU must be contacted before construction begins and it will be necessary for the contractor to work closely with IMU to provide access for all visual inspections as the home is being constructed. This rate discount cannot be combined with the Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program.
