This incentive is no longer offered. National Grid provides funding support to commercial and industrial gas customers who install solar thermal technologies. Recommended solar thermal applications include solar hot water heating, and in some cases solar space heating or high temperature process applications. Eligibility requirements are in place to ensure quality installation of solar thermal systems. National Grid requires interested participants schedule an energy audit to identify appropriate solar thermal technologies as well as estimated natural gas savings. They must also contract a solar thermal installer for an estimate; and as part of the pre-approval application, the installer will submit a "RetScreen" or "T-Sol" analysis to National Grid. National Grid will then issue a rebate offer letter based on the analysis. Commercial and industrial customers receive a one-time rebate based on estimated first-year savings, up to 50% of the project costs or $100,000 per project ($250,000 for new construction). The system must save gas to qualify.
