The Fuel Transformation Program is funded by part of a national settlement with Volkswagen. Funding for this program is being released in three parts. Part 1 is allocated for on-road vehicles. This includes trucks, port drayage vehicles, shuttle buses, and transit buses. Part 1 has three rounds. Round 1 was from February to April 22, 2021. Round 2 is from June 22 - August 20, 2021. Round 3 is from October 19 - December 17, 2021. A total of $16 million is allocated for Part 1. Part 2 will be allocated for freight switchers, Great Lakes ferries and tug boats, and shore power. Proposals for Part 2 will begin to be accepted in 2022. A total of $9 million will be allocated in Part 2. Part 3 will be allocated for port cargo handling equipment, forklifts, and airport ground support equipment. Proposals for Part 3 will begin to be accepted in early 2023. A total of $5 million will be allocated in Part 3.
