Wind Turbine & Solar PV Incentive Program

Summary

This program promotes the use of wind turbine and solar photovoltaic systems to produce electricity from renewable energy resources. All Michigan residents, businesses, institutions, State and local governments are eligible for the $3.00 per Watt incentive. A total of $300,000 is available and will be paid out on a first-come first-serve basis. Minimum incentive payment will be $300 per applicant; maximum incentive payment will be $5,000 per applicant. Projects must be installed in Michigan and must produce electricity. PV systems must have a minimum of 100 Watts of peak electric capacity to be eligible. Wind turbine systems must have a minimum of 500 Watts of peak electric capacity to be eligible. Solar PV and wind turbine systems can be combined. Upon installation and completion of the PV or wind system, applicants will submit a completed Wind Turbine/PV System Incentive Application, documentation of eligible expenses, and an IRS Form W-9, Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification Form.
