Nevada Power - Energy Efficient Air Conditioning Rebate Program for Contractors and Homebuilders

November 10, 2008

Summary

Nevada Power is offering rebates for homebuilders who install qualifying high efficiency central air conditioners (not window units) and heat pumps. In order to qualify for the rebate, homebuilders must have their new equipment properly installed by a participating HVAC contractor that verifies proper refrigerant charge and airflow and duct sealing measures using Nevada Power quality installation certification program. The rebates range from $60 per ton to $235 per ton depending on the efficiency and whether it is a packaged unit or a split system. HVAC contractors can also receive rewards from Nevada Power by servicing HVAC systems to increase their performance. In the case of new homes, HVAC contractors can receive $20 per ton for refrigerant charge air flow service and $50 per ton for duct testing and sealing service (based upon the final air duct leakage measurement of the system being less than 6%).
