In January of 2004, Sierra Pacific Power began a photovoltaic rebate program providing $4 per watt, up to $4000, which is available for the first 10 Sierra Pacific Power customers that apply. As of June, 2004 no customers have taken advantage of the program. Photovoltaic equipment must be installed by a state licensed contractor and installation is subject to Sierra Pacific Power Net Metering Requirements. Sierra Pacific Power will own the Renewable Energy Credits from the electricity produced by the photovoltaic systems. The Renewable Energy Credits count towards Nevada Power's solar goals under Nevada's Renewable Portfolio Standards.
