The Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce currently offer the Oklahoma Comfort Program for geothermal heat pumps. A rebate of $1,000 per ton is available to participants which are not receiving incentives from the OMPA WISE rebate program. A $400 - $800 rebate is available to customers who are already participating in the WISE rebate program. The program primarily serves single-family residential customers which properly install geothermal heat pumps. However, commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties may also be qualified on a case-by-case basis. Reviews of facilities which are not single-family residences will require a longer approval period. Contractors must be fully licensed and accredited according to specifications in the program brochure. Systems less than 5.5 tons will be approved most easily, with larger systems requiring a longer review process. Closed loop systems most easily qualify for this incentive, while open loop systems may require a more lengthy review. All systems must be certified to meet program requirements. A site plan must be drafted and reviewed before initiating the installation and rebate process. Applications may be found on the program web site and should be submitted only after the completion of a site plan. Contact OMPA for any questions regarding this program or review the program brochure.
