Bryan Texas Utilities offers loans to residential customers to replace HVAC equipment, finance insulation improvements, and buy Energy Star rated major appliances for homes through the Energy $avings and Protection Loan Programs. Customers can use the financing for equipment, labor and materials costs related to the replacement or installation of energy efficiency measures. The loan is available to owners of single family, duplex, triplex and four-plex residential dwellings with an appropriate credit history. To participate, customers must submit a Loan Pre-qualification Form and acquire contractor bids.
Customers may apply for a loan by arranging for a no-cost energy audit of their residence. The Energy Service Advisor will determine the recommended level of equipment and financing required. Loan approval is based on the customer's payment history with BTU, and the payments are automatically included in the customer's monthly utility bill. Interest is compounded at 7% and loans can be paid off in one to five years.
This program will not fund systems installed in mobile homes; window or similar type units; existing system repairs or maintenance costs; or ancillary equipment such as insulation, humidifiers, filters, etc. BTU keeps all relevant loan applications on file for three months. After that period of time ends, customers will need to fill out and resubmit the pre-qualification information again for approval.
