The CMAQ Vehicle Fuel Conversion Incentive Program is intended to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution associated with government fleet vehicles. Local government and state agency fleets that are located in Air Quality Non-Attainment areas are eligible for a maximum reimbursement of $10,000 for the incremental cost of new vehicles or reasonable aftermarket conversions.
Components eligible for reimbursement must meet "Buy America" compliance requirements for Federal Highway Administration funds. Eligible uses are for light- and heavy-duty dedicated and bi-fuel propane autogas or compressed natural gas vehicles, and electric vehicles.
